This is not the Little Match Girl.
This is not another fairy Grimm’s tale.
This is happening now, in Syria:
This is Wasim Zakkour, who lived a lonely orphan and died a lonely soul.
His parents died by ASSad’s shelling.
He had nothing left in the world but over-sized shoes to protect his feet from the rubble and the cold streets.
His hunger was only met with dried up bread-crumbs.
He carried a black garbage bag, collecting recyclable items to sell, to the few buyers left.
This is the childhood of a Syrian little boy!
But the criminals were not satisfied. So, here he is by the side of the road, a black bag in hand, and over-sized shoes nearby.
No funeral, no coffin.
This is not the end of a life…
This is the end of a nation…
THIS is the end of civilization…and the end of history…
The end of humanity.
Now go ahead. Cry a little. Then go enjoy your children.
We lost ours.
